Blue Horses part 1

Blue Horses part 1

This short film was the first thing I ever directed. Blue Horses is an adaptation of a short story written by Tom FranklinWe shot this on location in my childhood hometown of Forrest City, Arkansas in 2002. It was a true guerilla style production. I flew myself and three of my best acting buddies in from LA- Joe Mckelheer, Bret Roberts, and Colby Stratman. My good buddy Rob Lemke was our local talent in the role of JIMMY BOY. My 4 person production crew came in from Nashville led by my DP Van Flesher. I had a lot of help from my family and friends during production. The money for the short came from a Mastercard commercial I was the lead in. This is what kick started my directing career. We played various festivals all over the country. I’m very proud of this film, though I would say my directing style since has become more sophisticated,, more effective. However there are themes throughout this short that ring true for me still today. I had to load this in as 2 parts due to YouTube’s new policy of no uploads longer than 10 minutes. Sorry it took me so long to share this with you. Life got in the way 🙂
